Help For Grieving Parents

Below is a list of books and scripture that have been helpful to me on this journey. Reading has been a great source of comfort, encouragement and strength during my grieving process. It has also helped me to know what I have felt was "normal" and that I wasn't crazy.

If you are a parent who has lost a child,  I am so very, very sorry. On this side of heaven, we will never know or understand why. But I believe one day, when we stand before THE great and mighty SAVIOR, our tears will all be wiped away & we will be complete again, . Unfortunately, many of you who are reading the blog either know someone or will know someone who has lost a child. Please share this information with them. Be there for them. Do not be afraid to speak of their children with them. Love them.  Allow them to feel what they need to feel in each moment.  You don't have to know what to do, you're not supposed too. You just have to be there.

I am a survivor of the worst emotional pain a human can know. My goal is simply to share a little of what has helped me, with prayers that someone finds something on this page to bring them a little bit of peace.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Psalm 139:13-16

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 40:30-31
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Lamentations 3:22-23
Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 

Matthew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Matthew 18:3
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Luke 18:16
But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

John 13:7
Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

God works through all things for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.


Romans 15:13
 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

Philippians 3:13-15
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. 

Hebrews 11:1
Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves then to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. 

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
